Whidbey Island Outlook
The landscape design for this high bank view home reflects the ebb and flow of the tide in Puget Sound below. The existing deck stairs descend onto this two-level garden which was formerly a swimming pool, but is now used for evening cocktails for two and dining with friends and family.
Boulders were used to create outcroppings in the new retaining wall which embraces the new stone patio and steps. Plantings were carefully selected for mature height so as to not block views, and to purposely screen a few choice site-lines. The plants include native shrubs, grasses, colorful deciduous trees and an Incense Cedar.
