Consultations

Depending on the complexity of your project and the nature of your questions, Ashworth Landscape Design Studio offers several different levels of consultation:

“It took me a few seconds to draw it, but it took me 34 years to learn how to draw it in a few seconds.”
– Paula Scher

Phone Consultation

Whether you first get in touch with me through my contact page or by calling, we will schedule a time to talk, during which we will listen and ask questions to help clarify what your project needs are and which of our services may be the best fit for you. No Fee.

The following services are billed a fee of $250 for a two-hour minimum appointment. Additional time is available at the same hourly rate.

On-Site Landscape Consultation

These meetings are energizing and a lot of fun. Clients say they really enjoy this service and learn a lot within a short period of time. All garden-related questions are game. This service begins with you as a guide as we walk your landscape. You might say what you like most about your garden, describe your challenges and say where you feel stuck.

Along the way, I will listen, ask questions, and then brainstorm possible solutions, create quick sketches, or talk about which steps you might take towards accomplishing your goals. This is a great way to discover whether you would enjoy working with Heidi (me) when considering engaging with Ashworth Studio for your larger and longer-term projects.

Remote Landscape Consultation

This is the same service as the On-Site Landscape Consultation but takes place online where I’ll join you from my office. This is made available for those with health safety concerns, schedule limitations, or for sites located too remote from Seattle. We will meet via FaceTime and “walk” your site with you as the guide.

Curb Appeal Consultation

During this service, the strongest attributes of your home or business will be identified, and ideas will be discussed for how to highlight these qualities, what other general improvements might be made and how these may be accomplished. This service is for all homeowners, residential building owners, small businesses wanting to strengthen their place within their market, and residential real estate agents interested in optimum sales results.

Exterior Paint Color Consultations

Selecting the right paint and stain colors to enhance your architecture and create a backdrop for your landscape is best done by an expert. I have a trained and practiced eye for color selections and can save you from making a hasty and costly color selection mistake. This service involves an initial site visit and a return visit to thoroughly review the large-scale paint-outs of the recommendations.

Procurement

Procurement includes the selection and purchase or design of items such as lounge chairs, dining furniture, custom cushions, curtains, rugs, fire features, fountains, umbrellas, specialty tiles, planting containers, and artwork. As procurement is typically a part of a landscape design contract, this offering is provided here as a standalone service.

Fine Pruning Consultation / Lesson

A fine pruning lesson provides hands-on instruction in your garden. During this time, you will gain confidence in the how, when, why, and why not to’s of pruning. Along with learning how to make the best cuts for the health and beauty of your plants, you will participate in a demonstration of pruning tool care. This service can be requested as a stand-alone or as an add-on in conjunction with a consultation or during a landscape design project. Because lessons take place at ground level, the plants chosen to work with during class are limited to trees and shrubs under 8’ tall.

“Heidi loves what she does and it shows…”

“Heidi helped me prune our two very overgrown Japanese Maples. She explained why each cut was necessary and was very patient while I worried about each cut. But the fact of the matter was each pruning cut WAS necessary and the result was two lovely trees that now show not only the beauty of the canopy, but the graceful form of the trees themselves. Heidi loves what she does and it shows.”
