Landscape Design services are available for planning landscapes within new construction as well as for existing and mature landscapes. At Ashworth Landscape Design Studio, I work with each new client to learn what they wish to experience when in their garden and how they plan to care for their landscape’s healthy and maturing future. This begins the foundation upon which all successful designs are built.
With my Interior Design certification (NCIDQ), I am uniquely qualified to design hardscapes (the built/installed elements), typically the costliest and the longest-lasting elements within a landscape. I confidently plan for aspects such as appropriate spatial allocation, ease of mobility, safety, and architectural integrity.
site analysis
My Ashworth Studio site analysis not only covers site conditions such as soil health, drainage issues, and sunlight/shade areas, but can include the discovery of community covenants, research into applicable city codes, and other important criteria that must be recognized and responded to during the creation of your landscape design.
“I don’t divide architecture, landscape, and gardening; to me, they are one.”

Visualization Tools
I realize that homeowners can find it challenging to visualize what they see when faced with a 2-D scaled plan drawing. Because of this, I employ various techniques to develop and describe my designs when working with clients, craftspeople, and contractors. From quick hand-drawn sketches, perspectives, and conceptual plans to scaled computer-drafted plans, elevations, and 3-D modeling, I am comfortable utilizing whichever tool is best suited to the purpose.
Elements of each Landscape Design process include the site visit, extensive photographs taken for reference, a site conditions analysis, drawing of a base plan, project programming, concept design, on-site or remote design presentations, a hardscape plan, lighting design, furniture layouts, and a planting plan. At Ashworth Studio, I also provide project installation oversight and represent the owner’s best interests when guiding the project build team in implementing the design as approved by my clients.
Design creation
Once the initial client meeting has taken place, a design proposal is created. The proposal includes the design program as communicated by the client, the client’s stated design and construction design budget, design deliverables, and fee payment information. Design fees are based on many factors, all of which are ultimately expressed in the hours worked.
This design proposal is then sent to the client for review and, once approved and signed, is returned along with the design fee deposit. Once these are received, a start of work date is scheduled based on my current workload at Ashworth Studio’s.
Fees
Design fees for a partial site begin at $3,000.
Design fees for an entire site begin at $6,500.
Premier Landscape Design
The Premier Landscape Design service is available for clients that desire a design developed to the utmost and down to the smallest of details. Although the Premier Landscape Design service consists of the same elements listed above in the Landscape Design service, it differs by designing to a deeper level where other clients may choose to independently make further additions to their project. This service is more time-intensive and results in installations that are more richly layered and nuanced.
I have the experience of designing spaces that are customized as necessary to result in fully-realized environments. In addition to landscapes, these projects have included high-end retail, spa resorts, and fine dining restaurants. I love the challenge of orchestrating everything from the first impression at an entry to the design of the swizzle stick in your drink. My custom designs have included rugs woven in England, dining chairs, patina-ed copper tabletops, china patterns, candle holders, floral arrangements, and commissioned artwork.
I seek out dedicated artists, craftspeople, and professionals within my industry who best suit your project. I know very well the value of the build and understand that the best design work cannot become a reality without also including the due care of the makers on the project installation team.
Premium design fees
Design fees begin at $9,000.
For construction budgets, $100,000+.
“Heidi took us out of our familiar and…”
“Heidi took us out of our familiar and introduced us to beautiful plants that we enjoy 12 months a year. She provided a full plan and plant listing list with care instructions, which has been very helpful. Two years later, it has matured to form the outdoor spaces we love and live in. She was on time, honored the budget, a wonderful listener, and made our property more dear to us.”
