About Heidi Hower

As the founder of Ashworth Landscape Design Studio, I have a unique approach within the field of design that has gained me professional recognition as a landscape designer. I specialize in residential garden design and pride myself in creating inspirational outdoor spaces in Bellevue and the surrounding areas. My background gives me a unique edge in the landscaping world. I have the skills and experience for making outdoor areas, of any size aesthetically pleasing as well as appropriate for attaining the goals of my clients.

Prior to earning my degree in Landscape Design, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Washington State University, and studied Art, English and Geology for two years at the University of Washington. After graduating from WSU I worked for over twenty years as an interior designer at Seattle based architectural firms. During that time, I designed indoor spaces in Europe, Canada and the US for restaurants, high-end retail, resorts and hotels.

The opportunities I had as an interior designer bring a depth of experience to the creative aspects of my designs when working as a landscape designer. Whereas previously I created unique indoor spaces, I now merge that ability with my passion for nature, gardening and the care of our environment.

Because of my extensive experience, I offer innovative outdoor garden solutions for my clients with a creative perspective. The plans I design are cohesive and can include hardscape elements such as paths and patios, built structures such as fences, gates and pergolas, and appropriate plant recommendations and combinations. My goal is always to bring out the best within each client’s property by creating a sense of connection between the building and the entire site.

More About Heidi

My passion for gardening is what makes my landscape designer services so special. I can say, like Gertrude Jekyll, “The lesson I have thoroughly learnt, and wish to pass on to others, is to know the enduring happiness that the love of a garden gives.” I believe in what I do and know that the outdoor areas of a home hold great potential and are worthy of investment and time. In fact, when I am not busy designing you will most likely find me caring for my own garden assisted by my dog Trixie.

My love of the outdoors and nature is why I am so passionate about the process of landscape design. I not only carefully attend to the entire process of designing and implementing my projects, but taking it a step further, I love coaching my clients to learn about the care of their own gardens. This is what allows a design of mine to grow and thrive over time and become a truly special clients’ garden.

My qualifications and awards speak for my work. Along with being a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), I have been professionally awarded and recognized for both my landscape design and interior design projects. For example, before I began working as a landscape designer I had achieved NCIDQ exam certification for Interior Design and was the recipient of the APLD International Student Landscape Design Award. This is confirmation of the excellence of my work, but even more significant to me personally is the testimony of my many happy clients. They have trusted me to guide them through the process of bringing to fruition their dream outdoor spaces and are repeatedly excited about the results.
